New Sports Radio Station Coming on the FM dial to Lubbock?

I have heard some rumors that Ramar Communications in Lubbock has picked up the rights to Tech radio next season.

Ramar currently owns "Magic 93.7," "Stars 97.3," and "Hot 104.3" on the FM dial. The question is, which station would they put the games on, or will they, like GAP Broadcasting, scatter the games around (currently, GAP airs Tech football on 94.5 FMX, Men's Basketball on KQBR "99.5 The Bear" and Women's Basketball on KKCL "Kool 98.1."

Rumors currently are that Ramar is going to start an all sports station called "Double-T 104.3," (referring to Texas Tech's Double-T logo) going by the call letters of KTTU (K-Texas Tech University). The station will feature Texas Tech sports and ESPN programming. The strange thing is that there are rumors that they will put football games on 93.7, 97.3, 950, and 104.3! (That's overdoing it big time! I hope that isn't true) KSTQ is currently hip-hop station Hot 104.3. KSTQ hasn't been able to quite compete with rival KBTE 104.9 The Beat (see ratings here), so flipping "Hot 104.3" would not surprise me. However, is it smart to stick a sports station on a rimshot signal 104.3? Perhaps it would be better to move Stars 97.3 back to 104.3 and stick the sports station on 97.3, since 97.3 has better city coverage. Or maybe, even move Magic 93.7 to 104.3 and put the sports radio station on 93.7 -- Although "Double T 93.7" wouldn't roll off the tongue as well. (Here are the coverage maps for 93.7104.3 , 97.3. You can clearly see the difference.)

If these rumors are true, KKAM 1340 is in big trouble!!!

More information will come as these rumors unfold.

This is just a rumor for now...I can't confirm this. But if this is true, seems like a good move by Ramar to me.
